Hospitals Moving to Retail Space
January 23, 2018
The need for massive hospitals with huge footprints is slowly coming to an end. With the rise in technology comes new innovations that seek to make your hospital visit as convenient as going to the store.
Better Services, Smaller Footprint
Advancements in robotic technology and fewer paperwork is set to drastically cut down the size of hospitals. More surgeries are expected to become outpatient procedures that will no longer require an overnight stay. These new innovations could reduce the size of hospitals across the US by 25% over the next 10 years. Micro hospitals are already popping up in San Antonio and it’s just a matter of time before retail centers get the chance to provide these smaller hospital venues to patients across the Alamo City.
Retail and Medicine Will Become One
Malls are expected to incorporate medical offices near consumer brands, making it easier for people to take care of their loved ones and shop for their personal needs. Retail Centers, not just malls, will soon be able to take advantage of this as well.
Paper Records Will Be a Thing of The Past
Large back office space in Doctor’s offices will soon be a thing of the past. Instead, records will be real time in the form of wearables that alert doctors and nurses of a patient’s irregular heartbeat.
